MLM Gelbvieh started when Marlin Meyer bought my first Gelbvieh bulls from Jim Wilson in 1982 to use on commercial cows.  We really liked the calving ease and the disposition on the first set of calves. We started to A.I. to Gelbvieh bulls and saving those heifers for replacements.  We now run 140 registered Gelbvieh and Balancer cows.

We are proud to announce that we are in the process of selling MLM Gelbvieh to Cole and Amber Epley. We will be doing this over a 3 year period.  I am confident that Cole will stand behind the bulls and give you the customer satisfaction and service that I know you have been used to over the last 30 years. If you get a chance, look Cole and Amber up sale day, I am sure they will be glad to meet you.

We have always culled hard over the years. A cow has to raise a calf every year to earn her keep. Once again this year, we were 8th in the nation for Dam of Merit with 38 cows qualifying. The title of Dam of Merit recognizes cows that meet strict selection criteria including early puberty and conception, regular calving intervals and above average weaning weights on at least 3 calves. Of the 34,428 active cows in the Gelbvieh breed, only 5.3% qualify for Dam of Merit. The Dam of Distinction honor recognizes cows that meet the same high standards for superior, long term productivity with at least 8 calves. Just 1.1% of all active Gelbvieh cows qualify for this elite group. We had 13 Dam of Distinctions and 25 Dam of Merits. Several of the bulls are out of these cows.

MLM Gelbvieh has now been selling bulls for over 30 years. Our Open House & Private Treaty Kickoff Sale is on the first Monday of March.  We also sell about 30 open heifers a year via private treaty.
